Clean geometry meets understated elegance in this beautifully preserved vintage Seiko from April 1978.

Defined by its softly faceted octagonal case and integrated bracelet, the watch embraces the minimalist design language that came to characterise Japanese watchmaking during the quartz era. Rather than relying on ornamentation, its beauty lies in proportion, texture and thoughtful restraint.

The satin champagne dial remains wonderfully uncluttered, interrupted only by a single applied marker at twelve o'clock and a pair of sculptural faceted hands that give the watch its distinctive personality. Their angular form catches the light beautifully, adding subtle depth to an otherwise minimalist composition.

Surrounding the dial, the vertically brushed bezel introduces another layer of texture before flowing seamlessly into a finely gridded integrated bracelet. The bracelet's delicate cross-hatched finish creates a soft shimmer as it moves, allowing the watch to wear as comfortably as a piece of jewellery while retaining its architectural character.

Powered by Seiko's dependable quartz movement, this piece reflects the brand's mastery of understated design—proving that simplicity, when executed well, never goes out of style.

Condition: The watch remains in beautiful vintage condition with light signs of wear consistent with age. The gold-tone finish has been well preserved across both the case and integrated bracelet, retaining its warm lustre and crisp brushed textures. Minor surface hairlines are visible upon close inspection, while the satin dial remains clean and beautifully preserved. The bracelet shows some age-related tarnishing to the reverse of the clasp, consistent with decades of careful wear, though this is not visible when worn. The crystal presents well overall, and the watch continues to wear elegantly on the wrist. Watch is working and running well.

Pricing

Pricing is determined based on several factors:

  1. Rarity: The availability and historical significance of the watch play a major role in determining its price.
  2. Brand name: Well-known or luxury brands may have a higher price due to their prestigious reputation and craftsmanship.
  3. Condition: Each watch is thoroughly inspected, and its condition—whether it’s in mint, good, or worn condition—affects the final price.
